Roof mounted bike carriers
We would always recommend a 'tyre hold bike carrier if you are carrying a carbon bike on the roof. Tyre hold bike carriers hold the bike very securely by the both wheels. Nothing touches the frame of the bike so there's no risk of damaging or marking your carbon frame, making them an ideal choice.
You can see our range of 'tyre hold' bike carriers by selecting the 'tyre hold' option on our roof mounting bike carrier pages.
Tow bar mounted bike carriers
If you have a tow bar then a tow bar rack could be another very good option. We have a large range of 'wheel support' tow bar racks, they are all suitable for bikes with carbon frames.
Most 'wheel support' bike carriers secure the bike using a strap around the frame of the bike, as well as by the wheels. Is is fine to use this strap on a carbon frame (they don't put enough pressure on the frame to cause any damage) but you may want to secure it to another part of your bike instead, such as the seat post. The Atera range of tow bar bike carries are a good option for carbon bikes. They use straps that secure around the frame, putting less pressure on the frame than clamps. The straps also feature a padded rubber cushion.
