Thule make a range of their Allax crates in a 'threshold' version. The threshold version is exactly the same as the original but the door starts a little higher, so it will still allow you to open the door in cars with a deeper boot threshold (i.e. where the boot floor is deeper than the boot sill). You can still open the door on the XS size where the boot floor is up to 170mm deeper than the sill. The S, M compact, M and L compact threshold versions allows the door to open with boot floors that are up to 245 mm deeper than the sill.

Note the smaller crate door, you couldn't open the larger door on the standard crate in this deeper boot.
Can I use the threshold version if my car has a flat boot?
Yes, the size of the crates is exactly the same, so it's fine to use the threshold version if your car has a flat boot floor. You might want to do this to give yourself more chance of being able to use the crate in another car (with a deeper boot). If you have a repositionable boot floor might want to try and use the threshold crate with your boot in the lower position, as well as with boot floor in the higher position. Please note, if your boot has an adjustable floor the crates will always have been tested with the boot floor in the higher position.
Generally, please follow any vehicle-specific notes on our database and, if there are crash-tested cages listed for your vehicle, please don't order a size which isn't listed - it very probably won't fit.
